This was one of the messages imparted to participants in a drug summit conducted by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CDAC) Thursday at the Heroes Hall here.

The two-day summit, which started last Wednesday, produced various programs against drug addiction focusing on the subdivision, workplace, and school environments.

The participants were divided into three groups, each addressing their respective concerns. The summit was moderated by Anna Marie Pineda.

A lecture on the familiarization with drug abuse, government operations against drugs, and treatment and rehabilitation of drug dependants was given by Rosemarie De Vera, a representative from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

City Legal Officer Ramsey Ocampo, also the point person of the summit, discussed the legal policies concerning drug abuse and gave a briefing on the anti-drug abuse task force.

The workplace group was facilitated by Melanie Briones from the University of Assumption. The group touched on the policies implemented in the private and public workplace. Advocacy and education training, drug testing, treatment, rehabilitation, and the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers alike were shed light on.

Campus policies, disciplinary and legal sanctions, drug education, and counseling were elaborated on the discussion of the second syndicate. It was facilitated by Glen Guillermo from STI College.

The third group was concerned with eliminating drug addiction in subdivisions. Subdivision policies, the role of barangay officials, the responsibility of the homeowners association, and coordination with government agencies were some of the topics deliberated on.
